The sea around Argentario features coves, bays and beaches that will be forever etched on your memory! Some are large, whilst others are more “intimate”. Some have sand, others have pebbles, and there are even those for rock lovers. With the exception of the lagoon between the tomboli, Argentario is entirely surrounded by the sea, offering visitors an amazing choice of places to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the crystal-clear waters of a thousand colours.
The Argentario peninsula is covered with lush Mediterranean vegetation and criss-crossed by multiple paths and dirt tracks that allow you to really get in touch with nature. The altitude of the region makes for some incredible panoramic views. In some places, it may even seem as though you’re walking on the clouds, with views of the blue sea, the island of Giglio, Giannutri or the Lagoon of Orbetello. Follow the paths through the vegetation to reach one of our towers (such as Torre di Capo d’Omo, Torre dell’Argentiera or Torre Ciana) and the beaches, bays or coves, and enjoy the crystal clear sea (La Cacciarella, Cala del chalk, Cala Grande, Mar Morto, Acqua Dolce or Spiaggia Lunga, for example). Being this close to nature, the possibilities are endless, from a simple walk or birdwatching to trekking, mountain biking or just a relaxing day at the beach. For the more adventurous, there is the climbing cliff at Torre di Capo d’Omo.
Some other activities on offer in Argentario include stand-up paddle-boarding and canoeing. The most beautiful stretches are between Isola Rossa and Mar Morto, or from Acqua Dolce to Punta Avvoltore with the obligatory stop at Grotta Azzurra.
There is also a golf course and a polo field on the peninsula.
Just beyond the boundary of the Argentario peninsula, there is a walk or bike ride through the Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve. It’s a flat stretch of about 7 km from Feniglia to Ansedonia, which many families enjoy because of the presence of plenty of fallow deer. It’s a shady path even in the height of summer and there is access to the sea all along the route.
